In some scenarios, if the ship begins to slow down at the target, accumulated messages from Earth can reach the crew at once, but regular communication becomes impossible.

The situation is complicated by other physical effects, such as frequency shift (Doppler effect) and relativistic aberration: the frequency of incoming signals is constantly changing, which makes the technical organization of communication even more problematic.
